Tennessee Can Enforce Ban on Down Syndrome Abortions

In reproductive rights news, a federal appeals court ruled Tennessee can
deny abortions based on a prenatal Down syndrome diagnosis, or the race
or sex of a fetus. The ruling Friday partially lifted a preliminary
injunction on a law that essentially bars abortions once a fetal
heartbeat can be detected - something that typically happens just six
weeks into a pregnancy and before many people realize they're pregnant.
Reproductive rights groups have denounced the law as unconstitutional.
