China Considers New Security Law in Hong Kong

China's most important political event of the year, the National
People's Congress, has begun after a two-month delay due to the
coronavirus outbreak. The Congress is expected to approve a new security
law in Hong Kong that would reportedly criminalize "foreign
interference," "secessionist activities" and the "subversion of state
power." Opposition lawmakers in Hong Kong claim such a move would end
the autonomy of the former British colony, which has been rocked by
protests over the past year. Dennis Kwok is a member of the Hong Kong
Legislative Council.

Dennis Kwok: "I just want to say to the international community that
this is the end of Hong Kong. This is the end of 'one country, two
systems.' Make no mistake about it, that Beijing, the Central People's
Government, has completely breached its promise to the Hong Kong
people."
