Several States Pass Laws to Criminalize Protests Against Fossil Fuel Industry

As the coronavirus pandemic rages on, a number of states have quietly
passed laws to criminalize protests against the fossil fuel industry.
Kentucky, South Dakota and West Virginia recently approved new laws
imposing harsh penalties, including jail time, on protest actions that
damage or block so-called critical infrastructure - such as pipelines -
that are used for the production and transport of fossil fuels.
