Georgia Signs Hate Crimes Bill into Law as It Increases Protections for Police
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Georgia's hate crimes law will go into effect later this week, after it
was signed into law by Governor Brian Kemp Friday. Georgia was one of
only four states without a hate crimes law. However, the NAACP and
others are calling out a police protection measure that was also
approved by Georgia lawmakers last week, which some say will further
endanger Black people.
