Massive Protests Erupt in Lebanon as Country's Currency Collapses

In Lebanon, protesters took to the streets Thursday as anger mounted
over the country's catastrophic economic crisis, with Lebanon's currency
plummeting to its lowest value on record. From Tripoli to Beirut, people
marched through the night denouncing the country's corrupt political
elite, blocking major roads and setting buildings on fire, including
several banks. Thursday's demonstrations were among the largest and most
widespread since a coronavirus lockdown was imposed in March.
