Trump Signs Executive Order Effectively Banning WeChat and TikTok

President Trump has issued two sweeping executive orders that would
essentially ban the use of the Chinese-owned apps Tik Tok and We Chat in
the United States in 45 days, citing national security reasons. More
than 100 million people in the United States have downloaded Tik Tok, a
viral video service. We Chat is a widely used app by Chinese Americans
for messaging and other services. China condemned the orders as a
"nakedly hegemonic act." The executive orders come as the Trump
administration has been actively working to help Microsoft purchase some
of Tik Tok's overseas operations.
