John Hume, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Architect of Irish Peace Deal, Dies at 83

Irish politician John Hume has died at the age of 83. He won the Nobel
Peace Prize in 1998 for his role in crafting the Good Friday Agreement
that ended decades of conflict in Northern Ireland. At the time, the
Nobel Committee praised him for being the "clearest and most consistent
of Northern Ireland's political leaders in his work for a peaceful
solution."
