California Under State of Emergency as Heat Wave Sparks Wildfires

In California, Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency
as more than 30 wildfires burn across the state amid one of the worst
heat waves in years. Climate scientists say the fires are driven by the
unrelenting rise of atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, which are
increasing the frequency, severity and duration of extreme heat waves.
