Federal Judge Strikes Down NC Law Banning Abortions at 20 Weeks

A federal judge has struck down a 1973 North Carolina law that banned
women from having abortions after the 20th week of their pregnancies.
The ruling came as an increasing number of states have passed so-called
fetal heartbeat laws, highly restrictive bans on abortions once a fetal
heartbeat can be detected-something that typically happens just six
weeks into a pregnancy before many women even realize they're pregnant.
