March 21, 2019 Costa Rican Indigenous Land Activist Found Murdered --------------------------------------------------- In Costa Rica, hundreds of protesters marched Wednesday in the capital San José, demanding justice after unknown assailants shot and killed an indigenous activist who led a campaign to defend the lands of the Bribrí people. Sergio Rojas was found dead at his home in southern Costa Rica Monday, prompting speculation he was assassinated by non-indigenous ranchers resisting the repatriation of land by indigenous groups.
