January 25, 2019 800,000 Federal Workers Miss Second Paycheck Amid Government Shutdown --------------------------------------------------------------------- This comes as some 800,000 federal employees who've been furloughed or forced to work without pay for over a month will miss a second paycheck today. Federal workers are increasingly turning to food pantries as they struggle to pay for housing, food and other basic needs. Among them: More than 40,000 active duty members of the U.S. Coast Guard.
