Nationwide Prison Strike Ends on 47th Anniversary of Attica Uprising

The nationwide prison strike came to an end Sunday, following nearly
three weeks of work stoppages, hunger strikes, sit-ins and commissary
boycotts in prisons from coast to coast. The nationwide demonstrations
demanding better conditions, the right to vote and the abolition of what
prisoners call "modern day slavery" ended on the beginning of the 47th
anniversary of the Attica prison uprising.
