Nicaragua: General Strike Called Amid Mounting Violence Against Protests

In Nicaragua, leaders of a protest movement demanding the ouster of
President Daniel Ortega have called a 24-hour nationwide strike. The
work stoppage came as Nicaragua's migration office said it's seen an
influx of thousands of Nicaraguans desperate to leave the country, as
Ortega's forces and pro-government vigilantes are waging a campaign of
violence that's seen at least 137 people killed since wide-scale
protests began in April.
