Owner of New York City's Massive Bookstore The Strand Dies at 89

In New York City, Fred Bass, the owner of the massive book emporium The
Strand, has died at the age of 89. Over his lifetime, Bass transformed
his father's small bookshop into the largest used bookstore in the
world. It's slogan is "18 Miles of Books." Fred Bass died on Wednesday
in Manhattan of congestive heart failure at the age of 89.
