Deputy Who Failed to Engage Florida School Shooter Retires

President Trump's proposal to arm teachers came as Broward County
Sheriff Scott Israel said Thursday the only armed officer present at
Stoneman Douglas High School during the massacre on Valentine's Day took
cover outside and failed to enter the school to engage the shooter. The
deputy, Scot Peterson, resigned and then retired after he was suspended
without pay. Sheriff Israel said surveillance video showed him doing
"nothing" during the assault.
