Supreme Court Blocks Trump's Asylum Ban

The government shutdown came as the Supreme Court ruled Friday that the
Trump administration cannot enforce a ban on asylum claims by immigrants
who cross into the U.S. outside a port of entry. Newly seated Justice
Brett Kavanaugh sided with the Trump administration, while Justice Ruth
Bader Ginsburg sided with the 5-4 majority in blocking the Trump
administration's asylum ban.
