This Weekend Marks First Anniversary of Charlottesville White Supremacist Rally

And this weekend marks the first anniversary of the white supremacist
gathering in Charlottesville, Virginia, which became the biggest and
deadliest white supremacist rally in decades in the United States. The
violence began on the night of August 11, when hundreds of white men
bearing torches marched on the University of Virginia campus and
attacked a small group of anti-racist protesters. The following day, up
to a thousand white supremacists and neo-Nazis gathered in
Charlottesville, attacking anti-racist counter protesters and killing
one woman: Heather Heyer. White supremacists have now planned
anniversary rallies this weekend in Charlottesville and Washington, D.C.
Anti-racist protesters are mobilizing for counter demonstrations.
