New Orleans Removes Another Confederate Memorial

In New Orleans, work crews removed a statue of Confederate General
P.G.T. Beauregard early Wednesday morning-the third of four such
monuments ordered to be removed by the City Council and Mayor Mitch
Landrieu. White nationalists had staged a series of protests in the
lead-up to the Confederate memorials' removals, prompting some workers
to wear masks and bulletproof vests for protection. One statue remains
to be removed-that of Confederate Army leader Gen. Robert E. Lee.
