Mississippi: Mesha Caldwell Killed in First Trans Murder of 2017

Meanwhile, in Mississippi, police are investigating the death of Mesha
Caldwell as a homicide, making her the first transgender woman to be
murdered in 2017. From 2010 through 2016, at least 111 transgender and
gender-nonconforming people were murdered nationwide. Seventy-five
percent of those killed were African-American.
