Texas: ICE Agents Detain Immigrant Seeking Domestic Abuse Protection

In Texas, agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE,
entered the El Paso County Courthouse last week in order to arrest an
undocumented woman who had gone to court seeking a protective order
against her alleged domestic abuser. County Attorney Jo Anne Bernal said
Wednesday she fears the move sets a precedent that will see undocumented
survivors of domestic assault stay with their abusers rather than risk
deportation and separation from their families.
