California: Kamala Harris Elected as Second-Ever Black Woman U.S. Senator

In California, state Attorney General Kamala Harris has won the Senate
seat vacated by Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer, who is retiring.
Harris is a Democrat of Indian and Jamaican ancestry. She becomes only
the second black woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate.
