November 16, 2016 L.A. Police Chief Says He Won't Assist Trump in Mass Deportation Plan --------------------------------------------------------------------- Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck has said he will not work with the Department of Homeland Security to carry out President-elect Donald Trump's proposed mass deportation policies. In a "60 Minutes" interview aired Sunday, Trump vowed to deport up to 3 million people. In response, Chief Charlie Beck said, "If the federal government takes a more aggressive role on deportation, then they'll have to do that on their own." Trump's recent promise to deport up to 3 million people comes after President Obama's administration has already deported more than 2.5 million people between 2009 and 2015-more than any other administration in U.S. history. .
