City Council Unanimously Approves $15-an-Hour Minimum Wage --------------------------------------------------------------- In Washington, D.C., the City Council has voted unanimously to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2020. D.C. joins the cities of Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles, as well as the states of California and New York, who have all passed measures to heed the growing call for a $15-an-hour minimum wage. D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has vowed to sign the measure, noting that even with $15 an hour, it's hard to afford to live in the District of Columbia. .
