Syria: Al-Nusra Breaks from Al-Qaeda's Global Leadership

Meanwhile, al-Qaeda's Syrian branch has announced it has broken with
al-Qaeda's global leadership. The Nusra Front controls significant
portions of northern Syria. It is listed as a terrorist organization by
the U.S., but weapons funneled to rebels by the U.S. and its allies have
routinely fallen into the hands of the group.
