February 8, 2016 Beyoncé Pays Tribute to Black Panthers at Super Bowl Halftime Show ------------------------------------------------------------------ And pop legend Beyoncé paid tribute to the Black Panthers, Malcolm X and the Black Lives Matter movement during her halftime show at the Super Bowl on Sunday. Her backup dancers wore Black Panther-style berets and posed with their fists in the air, recalling the black power salute by Tommie Smith and John Carlos at the 1968 Olympics. Her music video for "Formation" released the day before evoked Hurricane Katrina and police brutality. By the way, the Denver Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers at the Super Bowl, 24 to 10.
