Report: South Sudan Faces Violence and Economic Decline

In news from Africa, a new report warns of continued violence and
economic decline in South Sudan, which has been gripped by bouts of
civil war since 2013. The report cites at least five violations of the
ceasefire, which took effect more than a year ago. Since 2013, thousands
have died in the conflict, and famine is widespread. South Sudan is the
world's newest country. It gained independence from Sudan in 2011.
