Montana: Thousands of Geese Die After Landing on Toxic Water of Open-Pit Mine

Scientists say thousands of snow geese have died in Montana, after the
flock landed on the toxic waters of an old open-pit copper mine near
Butte last week. The Berkeley Pit mine was closed in 1982 and is now a
Superfund site. It's filled with water contaminated with arsenic and a
host of other toxic chemicals.
