Mexico: Journalist Survives Assassination Attempt in Veracruz

In Mexico, a journalist has survived an attempted assassination in the
eastern state of Veracruz. Freelance journalist Lucía López Castillo was
about to enter her home Sunday night when she was approached by a masked
man, who attacked her and then shot her. Veracruz is one of the
deadliest areas of Mexico for journalists. At least 16 journalists have
been killed in Veracruz since 2010; another three have disappeared.
