April 15, 2016 Activists Occupy Canadian Gov't Offices to Demand Action on First Nations Suicides ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In other news from Canada, activists have occupied government offices to demand Prime Minister Trudeau visit a First Nations community rocked by a spate of suicide attempts. The Attawapiskat First Nation in Ontario saw 28 suicide attempts last month within a population of 2,000 people, and 11 attempts on Saturday alone. Activists with the Black Lives Matter and Idle No More movements occupied the Toronto offices of a government indigenous affairs agency Wednesday, while another group of activists staged a sit-in in the agency's Winnipeg office Thursday evening.
