February 4, 2015 Harper Lee, Author of "To Kill a Mockingbird," to Publish 2nd Novel -------------------------------------------------------------------- The Pulitzer Prize-winning author Harper Lee will publish a new novel this summer. Lee, who is 88 years old, says she wrote a novel in the mid-1950s called "Go Set a Watchman," which focuses on an adult woman named Scout. But her editor persuaded her to focus on a younger Scout, and that novel became the classic, "To Kill a Mockingbird." Lee says she thought the old manuscript was lost until her lawyer discovered it. Both novels are set in the fictional town of Maycomb, based on Lee's hometown of Monroeville, Alabama. .
