Houston Officials Clear 3-Decade Rape-Kit Backlog

In Texas, officials in Houston have cleared a three-decade backlog of
more than 6,600 rape kits. The testing turned up 850 DNA matches in a
national database. The authorities acknowledged some suspects whose DNA
was in the Houston kits committed other crimes while the evidence
languished. Houston is one of several cities nationwide with massive
rape-kit backlogs.
