Top Anti-Logging Activist Murdered in Peru

In Peru, an anti-logging activist and three other leaders of the
Ashaninka native community have been murdered in a remote area near the
Brazilian border. Edwin Chota was a prominent opponent of illegal
logging, which is devastating the Amazon region. He had received death
threats from the loggers, who local authorities say are suspected of
carrying out the killings.
