September 22, 2014 Global Greenhouse Gas Emissions Hit New Record; U.S. Share Increases 2.9% -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The People's Climate March was timed to coincide with a United Nations climate summit in New York City on Tuesday. On the eve of the summit, new figures showed global emissions of greenhouse gases rose last year to record levels. Greenhouse gases increased 2.3 percent overall. U.S. emissions were up 2.9 percent after declining in recent years. Ahead of the talks, the Obama administration confirmed it would not pledge any new money to a global fund helping poor nations deal with global warming. .
