Report: NY State Failing to Provide Public Defense to Poor

A new report from the New York Civil Liberties Union finds New York
state is illegally failing to provide public defense services to poor
people who cannot afford attorneys when accused of crimes. In some
areas, public defenders are carrying nearly three times the maximum
recommended caseload.
