Zapatista Leader Subcomandante Marcos Says He Is Stepping Down

In Mexico, the Zapatista leader Subcomandante Marcos has announced he is
stepping down and will disappear, more than 20 years after launching an
indigenous uprising on the day the North American Free Trade Agreement
went into effect. In a statement, Marcos said he is making way for the
next generation, writing, "We have decided that today Marcos no longer
exists."
