U.S. Sends Military Advisers to Somalia

The United States has deployed a team of military advisers and trainers
to Somalia for the first time in 20 years. The Washington Post reports a
U.S. contingent has operated out of the capital Mogadishu since October,
assisting African troops in their fight against al-Shabab militants.
Although it is the first official military deployment in Somalia since
1993, the United States has maintained a continued presence with
operations including a CIA base and drone strikes.
