Maryam Mirzakhani Becomes 1st Woman to Win Top Math Prize

An Iranian-born mathematician has become the first woman to win math's
highest honor. Stanford University professor Maryam Mirzakhani said in a
statement that she hopes her winning of the Fields Medal will encourage
other young female scientists and mathematicians.
