Supreme Court Appears Poised to Uphold Affirmative Action Ban

The Supreme Court appears poised to uphold Michigan's voter-approved ban
on affirmative action at state colleges and universities. An appeals
court previously ruled the ban violated the Equal Protection Clause of
the 14th Amendment. But during oral arguments Tuesday, Justice Antonin
Scalia reportedly claimed the 14th Amendment "protects all races" not
"only the blacks."
