Colorado: Transgender First-Grader Wins Landmark Discrimination Case

In a landmark move for transgender rights, Colorado state officials have
ruled a transgender first-grader must be allowed to use the girls'
bathroom at her school, even though she was born male. The state's
Division of Civil Rights said barring six-year-old Coy Mathis from using
the girls' bathroom constituted discrimination. LGBT activists hailed
the ruling as the first in U.S. history to say schools must allow
transgender students to select restrooms that match their gender
identity.
