Group of U.S. Scholars Joins Boycott of Israel

A group representing thousands of U.S. scholars has voted to boycott
Israeli universities. The American Studies Association is the largest
group of U.S. academics to join the global campaign to boycott and
divest from Israel over its treatment of Palestinians. Members backed
the boycott by a ratio of more than 2-to-1, citing "the documented
impact of the Israeli occupation on Palestinian scholars and students"
and "the extent to which Israeli institutions of higher education are a
party to state policies that violate human rights."
