Curfew Imposed in South Sudan After Alleged Coup Attempt

The president of South Sudan imposed an overnight curfew following what
he called an attempted coup by soldiers supporting his former deputy.
President Salva Kiir fired his vice president and cabinet in July amid
criticism over failing infrastructure. Kiir said the government was in
full control of the capital Juba Monday, but there were reports of
gunfire continuing into the early hours of this morning.
