Civil Rights Activist Lawrence Guyot (1939-2012)

The veteran civil rights activist Lawrence Guyot has died at the age of
73. Guyot began his activism as an anti-racism organizer with the
Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee in Mississippi during the
1960s, spearheading African-American voter registration and nearly
losing his life to one of several brutal beatings he suffered while in
jail.
