March 19, 2012 East Timorese President Jose Ramos-Horta Defeated in Country’s 2nd Presidential Election ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- East Timor's President Jose Ramos-Horta has conceded defeat Monday after the country held its second presidential election as a free nation. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate was challenged in the election by 11 opponents. A run-off between Ramos-Horta's top two challengers will be held in April. Opposition leader Francisco Guterres and former guerrilla leader Taur Matan Ruak were ahead after at least 70 percent of the votes were counted. .
