Romney, Bain Tied to Chinese Surveillance Company 
--------------------------------------------------



A connection has been revealed between the private equity firm Bain
Capital — founded by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney
— and a company that supplies surveillance equipment to the
Chinese government. A Bain-run fund has purchased the video surveillance
division of the company, which claims to be the largest to supply the
government’s Safe Cities program. A blind trust held by the Romney
family has holdings in the company. The Chinese program involves
widespread government surveillance in universities, hospitals, mosques
and movie theaters.
