Maryland Senate Votes to Legalize Same-Sex Marriage

The Maryland State Senate has voted to legalize same-sex marriage, a
measure Democratic Gov. Martin O’Malley has promised to sign into law.
Maryland will join seven other states and the District of Columbia in
allowing allow same-sex marriage. Opponents may attempt to bring the
Maryland law to a referendum on the November ballot.
