February 24, 2012 Syrian Opposition Meet With International Diplomats in Tunis ------------------------------------------------------------- The developments in Syria come as members of the opposition Syrian National Council are holding talks with officials from more than 50 countries at a "Friends of Syria" conference today in Tunis. Attendees are expected to call for a cease-fire to allow aid into the county’s most violent areas. On the eve of the summit, a Syria National Council delegate said his group will seek international recognition as well as further pressure on the Assad regime. Haitham al-Maleh: "First of all, we want from them to say the National Council in Syria is the umbrella, the political umbrella for the opposition, for the revolution. The second step, we want to make the Assad regime alone, by pull out all the ambassadors from Damascus and push out all the Syrian ambassadors from outside. We want to go even to Russia or to China to say this is a very big mistake. If you continue cooperate with the regime, the regime will fell down anyway." .
