Board to Oversee Detroit’s Finances Despite Union Complaints

Detroit’s City Council has voted to give power to an oversight board
that would review the city’s finances and its attempts to force
concessions from city workers unions. The decision came amid fears of a
state-appointed emergency manager taking control of the city. Meanwhile,
a federal judge has rejected an attempt by municipal unions to stop the
new agreement.
