U.K. Official: Iraq War Dossier Was Designed to “Make A Case For War”

A top British military intelligence official has said Britain's
discredited 2002 dossier on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program
was drawn up "to make the case for war." According to the Guardian
newspaper, Major General Michael Laurie has testified saying, "We knew
at the time that the purpose of the dossier was precisely to make a case
for war, rather than setting out the available intelligence." Laurie's
testimony directly contradicts statements by former British Prime
Minister Tony Blair and other officials.
