June 23, 2011 Chinese Artist Ai Weiwei Freed From Prison ------------------------------------------- China’s best-known artist, Ai Weiwei, has been released from prison after more than two months behind bars. Chinese authorities had detained Weiwei and seized more than 30 computers from his studio just days after he accused the Chinese government of trying to silence dissident voices. Outside of his studio, Weiwei refused to answer questions, saying it would violate his bail conditions. Ai Weiwei: "I cannot give any interviews, please. So sorry. I cannot tell more than that. Live your life. Everybody should live your life. I cannot say anything. I'm on bail." As an artist, Weiwei is best known for designing the Bird’s Nest stadium for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. His arrest had sparked an international outcry. .
