July 14, 2011 Egypt Fires 650 Officers Linked to Uprising Repression ------------------------------------------------------- The Egyptian government has announced the dismissal of more than 650 senior police officers amidst growing protests calling for speedier punishment of forces responsible for the deaths of hundreds of protesters during the popular uprising that ousted former president, Hosni Mubarak, earlier this year. A crowd of demonstrators have remain camped out in Cairo's Tahrir Square following a massive protest last Friday. The Egyptian government has also vowed to reshuffle its cabinet, as well as raise the minimum wage. .
